Children
Word Alive is blessed to have Pastors Dana and Joe Hansen lead our children's department. As a couple they have been licensed ministers at Word Alive since 1999. They have led the prophetic team, and intercessors ministries, and have worked in every department from cleaning through to the platform ministry. They have four children, two of whom have already left the nest and two who are currently in the Children’s Ministry. They also have two grandchildren!
Joe has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Ottawa University and a Masters Degree in Theology from Fuller Seminary. He has been in church leadership for the past 18 years and a member of Word Alive since 1995. He currently assists Pastors Mark and Karen with teaching, and worship ministries.
Dana is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She has volunteered in public schools for the past 13 years and has served in Word Alive’s Children’s Ministry since joining the church in 1996.
Having already raised two children, Dana understands the incredible pressures kids today experience and believes a foundation in Christ is the best way to protect our children from the dangerous temptations that our society presents to children at younger ages every year. She uses curriculum that teaches real world principles straight from the Bible. It is important to her that the kids understand the things they learn and can implement the lessons in their everyday lives.

Transforming Kids
We see children who are well able to not only learn the Word of God, but who can use what they learn in their daily lives to transform their world. We teach practical, Bible-based lessons that equip our children to resist the pressures they face on a daily basis. By developing a solid support system of Godly friends we help them see that their faith is shared and they are not alone in this world.
Transforming our Church
As we provide a dependable and safe place for our children to learn, we recognize that they are the future church and are establishing their faith foundations here. They are the pastors and lay leaders of tomorrow, leaving our church in very good hands indeed.
Transforming our Community
We have a vision for at least two community service projects every year. Giving our children practical, hands on service opportunities helps them see there is more to the world than their life “bubble” and develops compassionate and humble heart.
Please join us at Transformers Children Ministry every Sunday at 11am at our Mesa Campus. We will also have Transformer's children's meetings at all services and some special events!
You see: a hyper little boy running all over church.
We see: a kid who stops mid run at the sound of a siren to pray for whoever the EMS vehicle is going to help.
You see: a young lady challenging the boys to a wrestling match.
We see: a girl who knows her scriptures and absorbs every lesson as if it were life to her soul (as it is!).
